Last night, I finally went to bed at 2 a.m. To say that I'm tired would probably be like saying the ocean has a little salt in the water.
Now, Daddy and Little Man, (aka Baby Bear) have been working on the 'getting ready for school' routine. Daddy always has a hard time getting Little Man up and ready to go. He waits until the kid has just 10 to 15 minutes to get ready, THEN wakes him up and wonders why the child is uncooperative. Many times, I tell this man to get up at least half an hour early. Wake the little anklebiter up gently, play with him for about five minutes, then walk out of the room.
*sighs* He doesn't listen to me though. Every morning, no matter how late I was up the night before working, (that whole workaholic thing I mentioned before,) I still have to get up to get things moving along. So today, Honey gets up, wakes the baby up with 15 minutes before they have to leave, and plays with him for ten minutes. Then he starts panicking because they have just five minutes left to get ready and go.
Today's battle? Little Man, also known as Sir Stubborn, decided he didn't want to change his shirt. He wanted to wear his yucky nightshirt to school today. Now, my honey, when he's getting frustrated he starts to sound a bit like Minnie Mouse. I can't stand the Minnie Mouse voice. It's too whiney, and no three year old is gonna do what Minnie Mouse tells them to do. They find it too funny and entertaining.
I go in the room, crook my finger, and use an up motion. Sir Stubborn looks at me, gives us this huge grin, and off his shirt goes! Minnie Mouse was asking me how to do that as the kid finished changing his clothes. I looked at him and said simply "I'm going back to bed now."
Here's a free tip for parents out there. Getting up and out of bed is hard for any kid, when you make them do it on your timetable instead of theirs. Trying to rush the kid just puts more undue stress on them. Give that child at least thirty minutes to an hour to complete their morning routine! It will give them a better start to their day, thus ensuring a good day at school.
Approximately 20 minutes later, Minnie Mouse calls and now he's in super panic mode. Think of Minnie Mouse on helium here now. It seems the daycare (which Little Man thinks is 'school') isn't open yet. Honey is due at work within twenty minutes, and has reached panic city.
Here's a tip for those that work in daycares: Open when you say you're going to open people! Parents depend on you. There is nothing like waking up to a phone call from Super Sonic Hyper Drive Minnie Mouse to get one's day going! Please, people, for the love of all that is good and holy; visiting Panic City with Minnie is NOT fun, especially first thing in the morning!
So now, I'm ready to try this whole sleep thing again. There is just one problem though. All of the animals have already seen me out of bed. Which means they think it's time to start their day now too. I need a nanny for the dogs. Or a sound proofed cage. Hmm.....
Great. I'll never sleep now. Evil genius ideas have started flowing through my head!
