Well, day one of my personal Be the Change Challenge did not go so well. Oh, it started out perfectly fine. Nice light breakfast, decent snack and lunch. Lunch was a bit heavier than most dieters would have liked, but I figured I'd just lose it later when I went to the gym so it was all good.
Then, I went for a walk. This walk was a nice long 2 mile walk during lunch. I topped the walk off with a light snack and a bunch of water but for the rest of the day I was absolutely famished! I could not eat enough the entire day. Instead of having a moderate 1200 calories, or even 1500 calories, I ended the day well over 2500 calories. I don't eat that much when I'm not trying to watch my intake!
At the end of the day, the only thing that I accomplished was a feeling of extreme nausea. One of my editors is a huge fitness buff. She knows that I am trying to make the change. She's promised (threatened is more like it!) to remind me daily to take my walks, and is advising me on those Jillian Michael's videos. I have to be honest though, even after day one I can honestly say, it's a lot easier to talk about the change than it is to actually be the change. All it takes is just one day at a time though.
Today, the change was the nice long walk. Tomorrow, a nice long walk, some Jillian time, and maybe, just maybe, 1500 calories or less!
