Running like a chicken with the head cut off!

Today has been one of those crazy kind of days where everything is running for non stop. Most things are fun, but are still a chore. It started with getting up at 5:30 to get the end of month accounting done and invoices in. Of course, that was the intention. They still aren't completed. It seems no matter how hard I try to keep everything nice and organized, it still does not help. This time, it was due to a whole bunch of duplicate pay forms entered in. Tomorrow will be part two of the accounting and invoicing.

We had to take two animals to Austin for their neuter surgeries. While there we went to farmer's market, a couple of fruit stands, an outdoor market and the meat market. I love shopping at the farmer's markets. I won't lie though, it is pricey. One entire paycheck goes to two weeks worth of food. The food is so good though and usually lasts us about two weeks.

We came home and I struggled with the accounting a bit more. Seriously, if it weren't for all of the pay duplicates, it would take me all of 10 minutes to do the first part of the accounting! After struggling with that for an hour, it was time to go again!

We stopped off at the stock show, and Princess Pie decided she wanted to join 4H. I think that's a good fit for her personality type. She'll do well with that.

From there, it was off to pick up the two de-balled animals in Austin again. I wanted to just stay in Austin until it was time to pick them up. There was wisdom in that choice that my husband did not see. Once we got there, it was another hour and a half just to check them out!

As soon as we got home, it was time to make dinner. We tried leeks tonight for the first time. If you like a strong onion taste, eat them raw. Cook them for a milder and sweeter taste. We're betting that leeks with steak or on burgers would be phenomenal!

After dinner, it was time for our walks. Those cinnamon apples we had for dessert had my blood sugar soaring, I'm sure, so a nice 2 mile walk really helped to even things out. At the same time, though, this was the first chance I've had to sit down and empty my mind all day long!

I complain but in reality, I love days like this. It's good to be moving and doing things. I love spending time with the family. I know how precious that time is and how quickly it's slipping from my hands. I am blessed.

In all of the running around, I got some good time in with Princess Pie also. At one point, we were walking around the mall waiting for Farmer's Market to start. Husband was off doing his thing, so it was just me and her in a near empty mall. I took the opportunity to show her the differences in the body types for the mannequins, the sales posters, etc. I also walked her past a few of the louder shops to show her some of their marketing techniques. I think that the biggest lesson she pulled away from the entire thing was "it is good to want because if we have all of our desires met, we would still want more and never be satisfied. By not getting everything we want, we learn how to be happy with what we have."

Tomorrow morning it's accounting and invoicing, (better not take all day!) a nice big breakfast, and off to the go kart races. Hopefully, after that, it's a nice quiet day here at home.

What are your plans for this weekend?
