So, these cats were apparently very nocturnal when living outside. We know this because the kitten, for the fourth night in a row, didn't want to sleep. It wanted us to get up and take care of it's petting needs. I can't believe I was concerned about trying to domesticate him!
Meanwhile, Little Mama got her own revenge earlier. We know that it's going to be even harder to domesticate Little Mama. She's been out there a very long time, and she's been hurt by humans so is distrustful. Every half hour or so, I go in and open her cage up to talk to her. She started letting me pet her again earlier this morning.
She was sitting all the way toward the back of the cage so I had to lean in to pet her. I was leaned over, with my arms laying on her blanket supporting my body, while my hands were pettting her. She started purring! Oh, what a great sign I thought it was. Here I thought she was purring at the pleasure of having someone touch her lovingly. Nope.
She was purring at the pleasure of knowing I was leaning in cat poop!
I cleaned it up and placed it in her litter box (hoping she'll get the hint!) and changed her blanket out. When I went in to pet her earlier, no purring. But then, I wasn't leaning in cat poop either.
This one is gonna be stubborn about it!
So, no sleep because kitten wanted attention. Leaned in cat poop. Oh, and Cara chewed her collar off. This is gonna be a wild ride! And here shortly, we can add kittens in to the mix too.
Wish me luck!
