Man this weekend flew by way too fast, though I'm sure my wonderful husband and children are glad that it's over. As mentioned previously, I have two dogs that just absolutely refuse to stay in our yard. They dig under fences, eat through fences, and jump over the fence just to get out and roam the town. This weekend, we decided we'd take down our old fence and rebuild it.
So, we're at Lowes picking out fencing materials when Honey decides it'd just be easier and faster to hotwire the fence instead. I explained to him why that wouldn't work, but apparently he didn't hear me. We went to Home Depot to price their materials, got ready to check out, then I mentioned the materials for rebuilding the fence. We argued just a bit, then Husband either realized I was right, or didn't want to argue about it anymore.
Either way, the fence got completely redone; or at least, the part of the fence that is ours got redone. You should have seen the way Honey and the kids were working together to complete the project. It looks fantastic!
Today, Mark came to help put up the electric fence. I have to say, it was great to have almost the entire family here working on a family project. I wanted to take pictures, but couldn't find the camera. I had a hard time working in here when they were all out there working together as one team to get it done. I don't think Mark realizes how good it is to have him come visit even when it is to help with a family project.
So anyway, we get our fence juiced up and let the dogs out. Sonny went first. He went straight to one of the weak spots in the old fence and nosed up against the hot wire. ZAP! This surprised him more than anything and he let out a yelp as he jumped back. Cara followed. She wanted to see what Sonny yelped about. She touches it again with her nose, and never goes near the fence again. Arlen brushed up against it and jumped back. He did this three or four times then stayed away from it.
Sonny though...
Sonny decided he wanted to find out what the new fence tasted like. Then, after this, he figured out he could fit his head between the hot wires. He touched his fur to the hot wires and no reaction what so ever. He lifted them up a small bit. No reaction what so ever. Nothing. *sighs* We're hoping that the solar panel battery pack just wasn't fully charged yet. Otherwise, the electric fence isn't going to hold him in for nothing and he'll have a hole in the new fence within a week.
Also, I am tired of sleeping on the couch, so we moved Charlie to the laundry room. We were afraid at first of how Charlie and Hana would react to each other. No problems there what so ever! They played through the bars of the cage for a couple of hours. If Charlie even mews quietly, Hana is right over there to find out what's wrong. Hana is happy to have something his own size in the house, and I think Charlie is happy to have some kitten company. Now if only Little Mama will be so easy!
I'm sleeping on the couch just one more night in case there are any problems. After tonight though, it's back to my own room I go. YAY! It will be so damned good to sleep in my own bed beside my wonderful, loving husband again!
Well, that's it. The weekend is over. Here is to another week. I hope everyone has a wonderful week with lots of fun, love, and good times.
