Moby is home!

Moby on the car ride home!
Well, we went and picked up Moby today. She is the sweetest, gentlest thing we have seen yet! She loves to go for walks in the evening but not so much during the day. She doesn't like the dry dog food we have, but will gulp down a can of Alpo in no time. She'll eat the Pupparoni treats in seconds, but will hide the Beggin Strips and snack on those slowly. She will sit, if you tell her to sit with a treat in your hand or her leash. She knows 'come' as well, and appears to be potty trained. She is completely gentle with the cats here in the house, but will try to chase down any that she sees when she's outside. She's also very anxious to play with the other pups, but won't be able to until the vet gives the all clear.

Oh. And one more thing.

She does not like being alone! She will yip, bark and whimper if she is alone in a room until you join her. She follows me around like crazy and even tries to go into the bathroom with me. If I step outside without her, she will stay at the window and watch me until I come back in.

Moby has her first vet appointment set for tomorrow. We'll get her checked out, see if she's been spayed yet and if not, make sure she is not currently pregnant before we schedule her spay surgery. She'll get her shots, and her dewormer, and she'll also get flea stuff. This poor puppy has more fleas than fur! We're going to have to get flea topical for all of the pets and treat them all again all at once.

We can't tell if she imprinted on me, or Pie or both of us. It is my plan to have her well socialized with every member of the family in the hopes that she'll imprint on all of us. Pits usually pick one and tolerate the rest, or so I've been told. We're gonna try to get her to pick us all.

I'm also considering having her trained and certified as a companion dog so that we can take her with us to more places. I have been blessed to have received Moby.

A big thank you goes out to the animal shelter in my town! They said that she has been eluding capture for weeks. When we went in and told them we wanted her, and where she hangs out at, they decided to go ahead and trap her specifically for us. They even waved the usual adoption fees for this little girl as well. Their only request was that we send as many people as possible to the shelter to go and get pets of their own.

I see a massive advertising spree coming on! :D I can use the marketing experience anyway.

Well, it's time for me to try the bedtime thing again. I know Moby will wake me up early tomorrow! Good night all.

  1. It's funny that she wouldn't let anyone get close a couple days ago now she won't let you out of her sight. Dogs really are a silly bunch :) Glad you finally managed to get her.

  3. Baby, I love you more than anything else that I can imagine so I say this with only love, devotion, and kindness within my heart...

You look a bit stalker scary in that picture! I can't wait til I get everything fixed again so that I can take us all for family photos. (Hopefully, non-scary ones!)
