A few traveling photos

I'm not much of a traveller. Well, that's not quite true, I guess. With my social anxiety, I'm not much of one for leaving the house. I tend to like my nice, safe and almost somewhat controlled environment. Last week, I got to discover many of the truly beautiful things that I was missing out on.
Houston
For example, the image to the left is Houston. I tried very hard to get a better picture of it, but this was the best we could get. I also have some video, as well. (At least, I think that's Houston. These pictures and videos are all out of order, now.)

I spent the first half of my childhood in the Houston and Pasadena area. I can remember the gunshots at night, and my bio mom finding bodies in the worst of places the next day. Houston is the reason why I do hate large cities so much. From a distance though, it is beautiful, isn't it?

Sunset in Louisiana

To our right, you see the beautiful sunset in Louisiana, and my husband's dashboard. Sorry, that dashboard snuck in for most of these pictures!

The pictures and the video just do not do this one justice at all. This sunset had the most gorgeous hues of gold, pink and purple that any person could see in their lives. It will be a nice little memory tucked away in the back of my mind until the next time we get to see a Louisiana sunset.

Beach in Mississippi
I grew up on the beach in Hawaii. Now, make no mistake, there is absolutely no beach that will ever compare to the ones back home but this one was pretty darned close. You don't see it here but across the street from the beach is a mall. There is also a bed and breakfast and several somewhat affordable hotels lining the beach.

I would have stayed, if I could have. What could be better than a beach, mall, and a place to sleep all in one location? I'm betting the people living in Mississippi don't know what a treasure they have!

Logan's restaurant Just outside of Ft. Gordon, GA
This isn't an outdoors scene, but it seems I don't have many pictures from the trip home in Georgia.

This is Logan's, in Georgia. That kid at the jukebox is my son. He's just become a soldier with the Army National Guard. We were taking him to his AIT training at Ft. Gordon. This particular Logan's doesn't offer a military discount.

Shame, shame!

It does, however, give a great loud "Yeehaw!" when you tell them you missed your son's birthday because he was in bootcamp.

They also make you stand up for one, too, when your son points out that he missed yours.

Unfortunately, I don't think that I have an image of Alabama right now. We should have some on our other camera, and I should have some photos and videos from the trip to South Carolina.

No clue!
I honestly have no clue where this is! I know that I was trying to take a picture of the river beneath us though. Have you seen anything quite as gorgeous as that beautiful blue sky? These photos have no enhancements of any sort, and were taken with my tablet and yet, there's only one other blue that I've ever seen which is more gorgeous than this.

Basic Graduation
This my friends, is the main attraction! This is my son's graduation ceremony, or at least part of it. He was graduating from basic training. He is now a full fledged member of the Army National Guard for the state of Texas. I am so proud of him. He set his goals in eighth grade and he followed a path that led him right to this.

Let me tell you, too, Mr. Goofball is now Mr. Regulations Man. One day, he'll find a good spot in the middle. I don't want him to lose that fun, playful side of himself but at the same time, discipline is good, too.

The prettiest blue ever
For the entire trip, this was my view. That's my loving husband and the prettiest blue I've ever seen is hiding behind those glasses. I don't normally post our photos online like this, but if I'm going to post the sights we've seen, I have to include this one.

This trip gave us something that all families need. It gave us time together. No video games, no computers, or television to dive in to. Just us. And I couldn't be more grateful!

That's it folks! For now anyway. I have to get in there and really dig through the other photos and videos. I swear, we didn't take nearly enough!

I'm planning an excursion to get to know a bit more about Texas here soon. Maybe we'll hit San Antonio for the zoo, or find a museum in Austin. I don't know yet but there is so much out there that I haven't seen! I won't see it by holing up in my house where it's safe and warm. I had nearly forgotten just how much I love to explore!
